For Bangkok residents, the festive season usually means extra time spent purchasing and the posh malls dotting Siam and Ploenchit are the prime spot to select up that good present. The best post-shopping refreshment (and reward) for your self is the brand new luxurious afternoon tea at The Athenee Lodge’s The Allium Bangkok.
Perched on the third ground, The Allium is a classy world-away-from-it-all with shimmering stemware, lush recent flowers, cosy tweed couches and, in fact, world class tea and Champagne.
We sampled their recent tackle teatime and loved it completely. The luxurious afternoon tea, accessible on Saturdays and Sundays solely, options an array of premium candy and savoury delicacies which can be as fairly as they’re scrumptious, and a number of other sorts of Chaidim natural tea, with the choice of a glass (or bottle!) of Veuve Clicquot Champagne.
The flowery Inexperienced Jasmine tea and the trendy Silver Needle white tea had been our decisions and each charmed us, as did the service, with workers coming round to refill our shot glass-sized tea cups each couple of minutes.
For the treats, recent mini-scones arrived with precise clotted cream and tart housemade strawberry jam, a heat, carb-heavy welcome for the remainder but to come back. The savouries included a lobster sandwich with duck liver, Iberian ham and truffle mayonnaise that was amongst our favourites, as was the meat tenderloin smoked in-house with potato salad and balsamic gel. The banana prawn served in a crispy seashell supplied an exquisite trace of ocean waters whereas Thai mud crab salad with cucumber represented different our bodies of water – these delicacies are native to mangroves.
Candy delicacies included a Chiang Mai brownie that was surprisingly thick and wealthy, a satisfying financier with coconut and lime, tangy orange tartelette with crunchy meringue topper and a completely gooey banoffee macaron.
We will’t wait till our subsequent purchasing tour to pop in once more.
The Allium Afternoon Tea is served each Saturday and Sunday from 3pm to 5pm at THB 1,400 for 2 and THB 2,200 with a glass of Champagne every for 2.
